# Questions about the whole cost

A price on a page is only the beginning of the conversation. Ask what the quote includes, how long it applies, and which charges would arrive separately.

Use the same billing period for every amount you compare. Ask about time away from work, travel and any visits elsewhere as well as the bill itself.

These pages provide reading and question space; no visits, prescriptions or bookings are offered here.

## Separate the quote before comparing it

Ask for each charge to be named. If something is included in another fee, note where it is included so it is counted only once. If an amount is not known, leave it blank and keep the question open.

## Your cost-question worksheet

Write each quoted amount in a box below. Entries stay on this page and are not sent anywhere. Keep a printed copy if you want the answers later; reloading the page may clear them.

Ask about each charge

Enter amounts for the same quoted period. Count each charge in a single row. An empty box means the amount is still unknown.

Initial assessment

What does the assessment cost when it ends without a prescription?

Quoted dollars

Medicine

Which exact preparation and supply period does this amount cover?

Quoted dollars

Tests

Are the tests, blood draw and review included, or billed elsewhere?

Quoted dollars

Follow-up visits

Which reviews are included, and what is charged for an extra visit?

Quoted dollars

Membership or ongoing service

Is this a continuing fee, and what does it cover beyond the visit?

Quoted dollars

Delivery and other charges

Which extra charges need to be added, including any charge for ending the plan?

Quoted dollars

No amounts entered.

An empty box means the cost is unknown, not that it is free.

What still needs an answer?

The browser’s print command also makes a paper copy. Add the amounts by hand if no total appears.

## Ask what happens when care changes

Request the terms for continuing and for leaving before agreeing to either. Keep the answer in writing with the quoted amount and billing period.

- [ ] Ask when an introductory offer ends and which price follows it.

- [ ] Ask whether the fee continues during a pause or a delay.

- [ ] Ask how to end recurring payments and request records for another clinician.

The September 26, 2026 sample of national online weight services often paired a membership charge with a separate medicine bill. That sample describes advertised fee structures, not a survey of Portland clinic prices.

Compare the continuing arrangement as well as the opening offer. Ask who handles a disputed bill and how to get a dated copy of the agreement.

## Put price figures in context

A medicine price, a lab price and a visit fee answer different questions. Use published figures to frame a question about your own quote, rather than treating them as a complete care package.

### What a test quote includes

Cash lab prices observed September 26, 2026 put individual common tests at roughly $29–$59 each in a limited advertised sample. Bundles ranged from about $75–$189, but they contained different sets of tests. Some of the sampled companies added a separate $6 physician fee per order.

Ask which tests are being proposed, why they are needed for your assessment, and who will explain the results. Then ask the lab and the care service which charges each will bill.

### What an insurance answer means

Oregon’s [telemedicine insurance law](https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/bills_laws/ors/ors743a.html) includes phone visits without video and care based on information you send for review later. That rule was checked November 3, 2026; payment still depends on whether the service and your plan meet the law’s coverage conditions. Your plan’s terms and exclusions still apply, so the law does not guarantee payment for a peptide prescription.

Give your plan the drug’s name, the proposed use, and the names of the prescriber and pharmacy. Ask about the visit and tests separately. A service saying it takes insurance is not a coverage answer for those items.

Prior authorization is the insurer’s advance decision about paying for the prescription. Medicare may allow payment for a medical use while your plan still declines to pay. Your plan applies its own [drug list and advance approval process](https://www.cms.gov/newsroom/fact-sheets/contract-year-2026-policy-and-technical-changes-medicare-advantage-program-medicare-prescription), as checked November 3, 2026.

### If Medicare is involved

As checked November 3, 2026, ordinary Medicare Part D, its prescription drug benefit, [excludes drugs used for weight loss](https://www.cms.gov/newsroom/fact-sheets/contract-year-2026-policy-and-technical-changes-medicare-advantage-program-medicare-prescription). A medicine used for an FDA-approved purpose other than weight loss may qualify for Part D payment. Examples include treating type 2 diabetes or reducing heart attack or stroke risk in adults with established heart disease who also have overweight or obesity.

Hormones carry chemical messages inside your body. GLP-1 is one example. It has a role in appetite and in the control of blood sugar. Semaglutide and tirzepatide copy its effects; ask whether either is the medicine being proposed to you.

Medicare’s temporary test program is called the [GLP-1 Bridge](https://www.cms.gov/medicare/coverage/prescription-drug-coverage/medicare-glp-1-bridge); its details here were checked September 26, 2026. It offers selected medicines to people who meet its rules for $50 per monthly supply.

July 1, 2026 was the opening date; the program’s scheduled final day is December 31, 2027. It handles approval and pharmacy payment separately from ordinary Part D drug coverage. Having Part D coverage is required, but it does not by itself make you eligible for the Bridge.

Part D [leaves Bridge payments out](https://www.cms.gov/medicare/coverage/prescription-drug-coverage/medicare-glp-1-bridge) of the total it uses to track your yearly limit on spending for covered medicines. People with low incomes do not receive extra financial help toward the $50 payment within the Bridge.

The Bridge requires a prescription and prior authorization, and [eligibility depends on the person’s age, health conditions and plan](https://www.cms.gov/medicare/coverage/prescription-drug-coverage/medicare-glp-1-bridge/information-providers). For 2026, having a GLP-1 paid by Part D earlier in the year prevents Bridge eligibility that year.

Before filling in an expected payment, confirm the payment route with the plan and prescriber. The linked Medicare pages set out the current eligibility details.

## Leave with a written answer

Keep the quote, the unresolved questions and the contact details together. If a response changes the amount or what is included, ask for an updated copy before comparing it with another option.

## Sources for these checks

Membership observations come from a limited advertised sample checked September 26, 2026; no local price is inferred.

Cash lab ranges and added fees come from a small advertised-price sample checked September 26, 2026, with different test bundles.

Your plan’s limits and excluded services still apply under Oregon’s telemedicine insurance law.
